The way you start your day has a major role in how the day turns out. If you get a good, easy and productive start to the day, the rest will also be easy and productive, but if the morning is extremely hectic and unorganised, you won’t be able to recover from it the whole day and one problem will lead to the other and so on. Hence, in order to have a productive and active day, you need to make your mornings more organised and efficient.
The best way to make sure that the morning and ultimately, the whole day go your way is to make an amazing routine for the morning that you can follow. Here are some healthy and productive habits that should be a part of your morning routine to have an efficient morning and a super productive day.
Get Up Early In the Morning
The first and most important thing that you need to do to improve your everyday routine is getting up early in the morning. The earlier you get up, the more time you have and the more healthy habits you can add to your morning routine. You should get up at least two or three hours before you have to leave for work so that you have enough time to go through your morning routine comfortably.
If you get up late, your morning will be unorganised and hectic, and it will stress your mind and ruin your mood as well as productivity level for the rest of the day. So, remember to set an early alarm and don’t keep the alarm clock close to the bed. Keep the clock away so that you have to get out of bed to turn the alarm off. Doing so will make sure that you aren’t tempted to snooze the alarm and have a lazy and sluggish start to the day.
Drink Plenty of Water
Drinking enough water in the morning is a very simple yet mostly overlooked method to generate a lot more energy, enhance your cognitive performance and feel more active, awake and energetic. When you wake up, drinking some water is crucial because it has been 8 hours since you have had some water, and your body needs to get rehydrated. Water in the morning will let you get rid of the laziness and the sluggish feeling you have in the morning.
Proper hydration is also crucial for our overall health. In fact, not drinking enough water can lead to many major issues that are really awful for your productivity and potential. Lack of water in the body can cause problems with our focus and attention, irritability, body aches and in some cases even anxiety and depression.
Personally, I aim to drink at least two or three glasses of water in the morning, and I have noticed a significant improvement in my productivity, performance, mood and energy.
Meditate or Do Some Yoga
Meditation and yoga have been scientifically proven to be healthy methods to start off the day. Meditation and yoga ease and clear our mind and relieve stress, so they allow you to get a calm and healthy start to your day. Even a small 15-minute session of meditation or yoga can have an amazing effect on our minds, and it can make the rest of the day easy and productive.
Have a Healthy and Nutritious Breakfast
Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating a healthy breakfast, that is rich in fats and protein is crucial for setting yourself up for an amazing, energetic, and highly productive day. Most people try to avoid fats at all cost, but they are unaware that our bodies need to get more (good) fats to run efficiently, for example, avocado-egg toast or a cube of cheese will do.
Exercise and Move Around
The best and quickest way to feel more energetic, awake, and less foggy in the mornings is to exercise or move around for a while. You don’t have to get in a full-blown workout in the morning, although, it is healthy if you can, simply doing a few push-ups, some light yoga or going for a light run or walk is enough to get the blood flowing and get rid of that sleepy feeling. Exercising in the morning will allow you to generate the energy to crush the rest of the day. It will also allow your body to peak in the mornings, so that you can be at your best performance for the rest of the day.
Review Your To-Do List
A great way to have extremely productive mornings and days is to create a to-do list. A to-do list allows you to look at all of your tasks for the day and prioritise them so that you can stay efficient and organised throughout the day.
A to-do list will make your days more goal-focused, and you will be prepared for anything that comes your way and furthermore, organising your day will also save you time so that you can relax and have some fun as well. Therefore, if you don’t have an organised to-do list, make one now so that you can maximise your potential and productivity.
Catch Up On the News
An important and healthy habit that should be a part of your morning routine is to catch up with the local news. You don’t need to watch it in detail but make some time to catch up on the headlines while you have breakfast or your coffee. Staying updated about the world is another habit of successful people so, adopt all the good ones, and ditch the bad habits.
