Best Amazon Black Friday Deals

We’ve been through various sale events, so what makes Black Friday different? Well, for starters, most international and Australian retailers (in-store and online) participate in this event. During this time, they’ll be offering hefty discounts on a wide range of items, including the biggest brands. It’s probably the only event where savvy shoppers can enjoy discounts by as much as 70%!

Black Friday also traditionally happens after Thanksgiving in the United States, which also signals bargain hunters to start shopping for holiday gifts. As for Amazon Australia customers, Black Friday is open to everyone – no need for a special pass to score huge savings.

Black Friday Sale 2020 is still a few days away, though, and it’s still a little early for Amazon Australia to disclose its best offers. But based on last year’s Black Friday, substantial discounts on consumer electronics, Amazon items and smart home devices are very likely.

I would recommend adding wireless headphones, fitness gear and wearables like smartwatches on our checklists, too. I’ll be updating this section with incredible deals as soon as they go live. So, check back daily!

FAQs on Black Friday Sale 2020

When is Black Friday 2020? What is Cyber Monday? And do I need to be an Amazon Prime member to shop? Learn all the essential info you need about the biggest sales event in the country here.

When is Amazon Australia’s Black Friday sale 2020?

This year, Black Friday sale starts on 27 November. However, there’s a chance that retailers will have early offers and initiate a countdown of some sort. So, keep an eye on Amazon Australia’s website at least a week ahead of the actual sale day.

Why is it called Black Friday?

People started using this phrase in 1951. Back then, Black Friday is a time when workers would call in sick after Thanksgiving Day to get another day off. US police would often use it, too, to describe heavy traffic and the large crowd out and about for Christmas shopping. Some also believe that the term has a connection with money and accounting. Accountants would often use black in to write down profits, which is significantly high come Black Friday.

When is Amazon Australia’s Cyber Monday sale?

The Black Friday sale period will run until 30 November for the Cyber Monday sale. Traditionally, this day is all about online sales for lifestyle goods, hence the name. Black Friday, on the other hand, used to be centred on physical stores and high-end items. Nowadays, there is no significant difference between the two. Shoppers can get the same consumer products and deals on either date, whether they’re shopping online or in-store.

Others prefer to wait for Cyber Monday as retailers tend to offer their best deals around this time. I say it all depends on what items you plan to buy. In-demand or popular products on Black Friday tend to sell out fast. So, in this case, purchasing the items you want while they are still in-stock is smarter than waiting for better offers.

What are Amazon Australia’s delivery options?

As most products on Amazon Australia come from third-party sellers, delivery options vary. Amazon Prime members, however, can have free expedited domestic delivery or free international shipping with minimum purchase. Online shoppers can also take advantage of the retail giant’s Amazon Hub, where they can get their parcels via counter or locker pick-up. This way, you can shop online without the need to stay home to receive your delivery. You can learn more about this recently launched delivery service here.

What is Amazon Australia’s return policy?

Return policies also depend on the seller. Some sellers offer quick refunds, while others do not accept refunds at all. So, before buying anything, find the time to read the small print, particularly on product returns. Also, you may want to read on relevant Australian consumer protection laws for added safety.

What payment method does Amazon Australia accept?

Amazon Australia accepts various modes of payment, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Zip Pay and gift cards. Similar to choosing a seller with ideal return policies, always choose a secure payment method when shopping. It’s best to pay using credit cards from established Australian banks rather than opt for debit cards or third-party payment services.

What sort of deals should I expect during the event?

Aside from regular deals, Amazon will be putting up other deal types throughout the Black Friday shopping period. Its Deals of the Day, for example, will feature all sorts of products on huge discounts. Aussie shoppers can also check out the US Deals of the Day at the Global Store. Here, Prime members get to enjoy free shipping for orders over $49. At various points of the sale event, keep an eye on the much-coveted Lightning Deals. Products here will be on offer for a limited time and at limited stocks, so make sure to click fast!

You can use the Waitlist option, though, in case you missed out on a good deal. But to avoid that from happening, I suggest subscribing to Amazon Australia’s newsletter for email notifications. Also, visit the Black Friday landing page frequently then like Amazon on Facebook for real-time updates. Lastly, have the Amazon app installed on your mobile phone and make use of the Amazon Assistant to get notifications on your browser.

Do I need to be an Amazon Prime member for Black Friday?

The best thing about Black Friday and Cyber Monday (aside from the huge discounts, of course) is that they are open to all! However, I would highly recommend signing up for an Amazon Prime membership for exclusive deals and perks. Here are some of them:

  • Expedited free domestic delivery. With Amazon Prime membership, you can shop for Prime-eligible domestic items and get them in two business days, without minimum purchase required.
  • Free international standard delivery. Enjoy free delivery when you order items over $49 at Amazon international stores.
  • Exclusive and early access. During the Black Friday event, Prime members get 30-minute early access on Prime-eligible lightning deals plus exclusive access on certain offers.
  • Free e-books and games. Members can access Prime Reading for a rotating selection of novels, comics, cookbooks, magazines and more. Also, signing up lets you enjoy Prime Gaming with its monthly selection of games you can keep forever.
  • Great movies and music. You canbinge-watch on Amazon Originals through Prime Video or sing along with over 2 million ad-free songs from Amazon Music
  • Free 30-day trial. When signing up, you can subscribe monthly for $6.99 or annually for only $59. Either subscription gives you a 30-day free trial! Plus, you can cancel your membership any time without extra cost. Sign up here!
