Not everyone has the luxury to whip up some breakfast every morning. Most of the time, working individuals just get up, order a Starbucks, and then go straight to work.
Although coffee in the morning helps you stay awake until lunch time, this is not the best breakfast if you are trying to be healthy. Even if you want to lose weight, nutritionists will shake their head in disapproval of your breakfast eating habits.
The Importance of Breakfast
Breakfast is the first meal of the day. A lot of people will argue that it’s even the most important. But why is it important?
First of all, breakfast helps start your day right. After hours of sleeping, your body needs nutrients and minerals for it to function well for the day.
Eating a healthy breakfast can easily awaken your brain and to get your blood cells moving. Imagine working on an empty stomach. Aside from a grumpy stomach, your body is going to run low in nutrients that even your brain won’t be able to function at its best.
Aside from brain function, a healthy breakfast will provide the energy you need for your mornings. If you will notice, the busiest part of any day is the morning. When you have enough energy, you can bet that you will be able to go through these mornings without feeling weak.
You will even have enough energy to last your afternoon. Not forgetting to mention, your skin will look better too if you eat the right type of food.
Tips to Have Healthy Breakfasts
So if you’re a busy person, there is no doubt that you need to eat a healthy breakfast. But how do you prepare your meal if you rush in the morning to go to work? Try these 4 tips for easier health breakfast meals.
1. Prep ingredients during the weekend
Forget about prepping meals, prep ingredients instead. By prepping just the ingredients, you will still be able to mix and match your fruits and vegetables during the week.
When you prep, start chopping your vegetables and the fruits. Make sure that each are placed in their own containers.
For vegetables, if you want to preserve their freshness, you can put cold water on the container and soak the veggies. You will also preserve their nutrients using this method.
You can also start pre-cooking some chicken and meat if you know that you’ll be taking them for the morning. Although there is no way to pre-cook eggs, all you have to do is put them in the microwave to cook.
2. Consider ready-to-eat healthy foods
Who says that ready-to-eat foods are unhealthy? Depending on the kind of food you’ll get, you can either have lots of preservatives or lots of nutrients.
If you want to be healthy, you can replace your instant meals with yogurt and whole wheat bread. When it comes to Greek yogurt, you can either eat them as is or add berries and fruits on top. This will be a great breakfast that will keep you filled throughout your morning.
3. Try overnight oats
If you need more carbs for the day, consider overnight oats. Overnight oats are a kind of oats that gets cooked overnight. All you have to do is prepare your chosen meal with the oats underneath.
For example, put overnight oats in a bowl and top it with strawberries or raspberries. Then, cover it and store it in the fridge. When you wake up the next morning, you can either eat the oats right away or pop them in the microwave to heat.
4. Bring your breakfast to work
If you’re really that busy, you can just bring a packed breakfast to work. Following the prepping tip above, you can just prepare your meal at home and then bring it to work. If you have a microwave at work, the better. You can even prepare a smoothie to go with it.
Being healthy and busy seems like an impossible match. But with so many available healthy foods in the market, you will surely have an abundance of healthy food.
The important thing is that you prepare them ahead of time so you don’t miss out on the important meals of the day. Since breakfast is considered as the most important one, make sure to devote some time on the weekends to prepare your food.
