Powertrain Home Gym Bench Press Multi Gym with Barbell Review

Overview

When I first saw the PowerTrain Home Gym online, the first thing that caught my eye was the free weights that are included. I thought it was an added purchase, but it really does come with a set of weights.

Even some of the people who came across this product mentioned that it had more than one free weight.

The PowerTrain Home Gym is just like any other adjustable weight bench when it comes to structuring. It uses steel in its mainframe and it has a bar that you can use to adjust the height of the whole bench.

It also comes with a barbell station and a leg developer area so that you can do several workouts and focus on different muscle groups. And the features don’t stop there.

When I took a closer look at the product, I noticed that it also has an arm fly station to further strengthen your pectoralis major muscles. The PowerTrain Home Gym definitely has it all.

Take a Closer Look on the PowerTrain Home Gym Bench Press Multi Gym with Barbell

To know more about the PowerTrain bench, here are some of the features that I will discuss in more depth.

Frame

When fully assembled, the dimensions of this product are 170 cm x 145 cm x 120 cm (l x w x h). This is smaller than the other weight benches in the market especially since this is an all-in-one bench. If you are less than 6 feet, this size will fit you well. However, if you are taller and bulkier, the frame can be too narrow.

The maximum user weight that the PowerTrain Home Gym Bench can support is 120 kg. For its frame, this is quite a heavy weight. When it comes to the actual weights that it can carry, it can hold a total of 45 kgs. The sides can also hold up to 8 weights.

Back and Seat Adjustments

The PowerTrain bench can do a number of angles for its backrest – flat, 90 degrees, and 3 other angles between 0 and 180 degrees. It comes with an adjustable bar that can further support the incline of the backrest. You can easily remove or adjust it.

Unfortunately, only the backrest can be adjusted as the actual seat is fixed. This means that you can barely do any crunches and pull-ups with this bench. Another disadvantage is that it doesn’t have any declining angle. A flat angle is the lowest you can get with the backrest.

Weights

I was excited to know that there is a set of weights included with this product. I’m sure that you are curious to know what kinds of weights are in the package. Here is a list of them:

  • 1 barbell
  • 2 pcs. 5-lb weights
  • 2 pcs. 10-lb weights
  • 2 pcs. 15-lb weights
  • 2 pcs. 20-lb weights

With this set, you can already exercise a number of your muscles. If you’re a beginner and you’re not into heavy weightlifting, I would say that these weights are already enough to challenge your muscles. This will help save up on all those gym equipment you’re trying to buy.

Other Things To Know About the PowerTrain Home Gym Bench Press Multi Gym with Barbell

If you go online and search for this product, you will find that there aren’t a lot of things to know about it. In fact, there’s barely any comprehensive product description that talks about the PowerTrain Home Gym Bench in depth. You really have to do your research to know more about this one, and yes, it’s going to be a struggle.

1. Good for beginners

As a starter combo bench, this is already a good bench to work with. If you’re not extra tall or large, this will fit you just fine. Besides, it can carry 120 kgs in user weight and 45 kgs in actual gym weights.

As for its functionality, there’s no doubt that you can do a lot with this bench. From barbells to leg exercises, this multi functional bench can help you achieve the dream body you always wanted to have.

2. Padding is OK

When it comes to comfort, it’s not the most comfortable bench out there. It’s good for the price, but there are other benches that offer softer and thicker padding. You should know that softer and thicker padding can help ease back and neck strain when you’re doing weights.

Pro and Cons

Pros
  • Comes with free weights
  • Very affordable price point for a multifunctional gym bench
  • Foldable for easy storage
  • Supports different type of workouts
  • Adjustable up to 5 different angles
Cons
  • Does not feel as sturdy
  • Bench is narrow in comparison to others
  • Does not feel very comfortable – cushion not soft enough
  • Very heavy at 75kg

Final Word on the PowerTrain Home Gym Bench Press Multi Gym with Barbell

To summarise, I have mixed feelings about the PowerTrain Home Gym Bench. On the one hand, it satisfies my need to have an all-purpose weight bench that is affordable and easy to use. This bench really has it all.

On the other hand, the affordable price makes me iffy on quality. As I said earlier, the frame is a little wobbly and if I want to feel secure and comfortable, this might not be a good fit for me.

Nonetheless, the PowerTrain Home Gym Bench is perfect for beginners who are not picky and who prefer a starting bench for all their weight training exercises. It’s also a great purchase for those who don’t plan to spend a lot of time on the bench.
