If you’re into bodybuilding or even the most extreme of sports or simply works a lot and would like to mitigate soreness in your muscles, then the Theragun G2PRO professional-grade percussion massager is for you. This is one of the best portable percussion massagers in the Australian market today.

Be forewarned, however, that it does come with a hefty price tag. But is it worth it? Why don’t you read on as I share with you my Theragun G2PRO review?

Overview of the Theragun G2PRO

If you’re looking for a professional-grade percussion massager in Australia, one that is typically used in clinical practise settings, you’ll definitely find it in the Theragun G2PRO. This is one portable massager that is built to really work the deepest muscle tissues in the body. If you don’t mind your body being ‘hammered’ to the hilt, then this is definitely for you.

The Theragun G2PRO features a unique set of steel internal gearbox that deliver an astonishing 40 oscillations per second or about 2,400 up and down movements per minute. It doesn’t look like much until you factor in the amount of force that is delivered with each oscillation – about 36 kilogrammes – and you’ll realise this is one heck of a machine.

Just to give you an idea, this is equivalent to a baby black Rhino or even an adult German Shepherd. Now imagine this force pounding your muscles 40 times per second. That’s the awesome power of the Theragun. As such, if you’re not really into intense workouts, this is definitely not for you.

Powerful, Robust and Efficient

This percussion massager also comes with 4 easily adjustable angle placements, allowing you to choose how the massager head attachment will be angled so that you’ll be able to access hard-to-reach areas of the body like the back. It has a robust construction, too, utilising heavy-duty nylon materials for its frame instead of the usual ABS plastics we commonly see in flimsy devices.

Buy Theragun in Australia

It comes with a rechargeable battery that lasts about 40 to 45 minutes. I was expecting the battery to last longer, though. Given its price tag, I did wish it lasted at least an hour or so. Nonetheless, with its powerful massaging action I consider it a miracle it even breached the 30-minute mark.

The Theragun G2PRO is not without drawbacks, of course. For a portable massager, it really comes with a steep price. For those who are not familiar with what it can do, the price tag is surely a grave concern. But, for me, I don’t mind paying that much. Its massaging action is something that is definitely priceless here.

There is one thing that I wish the designer could have done something. It is the fact that the motor is so loud. It’s like having an industrial power tool hammering, pounding your body. You will not be able to use this baby in the office or even in a small apartment especially if you have a baby in the nursery.

I tried using a pair of those ear buds to help block out the noise. It did help. But this doesn’t mean other people won’t hear the noise anymore.

So, before you buy this percussion massager, make sure you understand the implications of owning one. Be ready to negotiate with your next-door-neighbour about that noise you’re making.

A Closer Look at the Features of the Theragun G2PRO

Powerful Massaging Action

At the core of the Theragun G2PRO is a powerful mechanism that delivers 36.3 kilogrammes of pressure with each ‘blow’ to the skin. You can feel as if the deepest muscles of your body are being rocked to the core.

Believe me when I say the sensation is more like getting a sledgehammer and hitting your body with it at a dizzying rate of 2,400 up-and-down motions per minute. That’s 40 oscillations per second. And if you think that’s nothing, try putting into the equation the fact that it has an amplitude of 16-mm per movement.

4-Angle Adjustments

One of the things you’ll notice about the Theragun G2PRO is that it comes with a gun-type of design. It doesn’t come with any component that resembles a handle which should help you reach your back muscles without having to request somebody else to do it for you.

But, you’d be glad to know that the Theragun percussion massager happens to be equipped with 4 different angle adjustments. More specifically, you can easily position the massager head attachment of your choice in any of these angle placements.

You can still reach those parts of your body that are otherwise out-of-reach without this mechanism. And for that, you’ve got to give credit to the creators of the G2PRO

Quick-Release Multiple Massager Head Attachments

I already mentioned that the Theragun G2PRO percussion massager comes with massager attachments; 4 to be exact. There’s a Cone attachment for trigger points and small muscle groups as well as a Dampener for bony prominences and sensitive areas. There are two ball attachments, too.

The smaller one is ideal for general use while the larger ball is intended for targeting larger muscle groups. Personally, I find the small ball attachment to be just right for everyday use like after coming from the office. It provides a more soothing, more relaxing effect as it unknots the muscles that have been aching sitting in front of my computer the whole day.

At least, you’ll have 4 different contraptions to work with, although some systems come with more than just four.

Modest Battery Life

Powered by a 12-volt LithiumTech rechargeable battery, the Theragun percussion massager can easily last a full 40 to 45 minutes of continuous use. It’s not really as long-lasting as I would’ve hoped for.

However, given the power it generates, I guess it is already commendable that it still managed to last 40 minutes. Do take note that lithium ion batteries can still suffer from memory effect. As such, if you are not judicious in charging the G2PRO you might end up using it only for about 30 minutes or so.

Sturdy and Robust Design

One of the things you need to consider when purchasing a percussion massager is its weight. I’d say the Theragun weighs just about right, about 1.12 kilogrammes or 2 lbs and 7.6 ounces to be precise. The weight of the device plus the pressure it applies onto the muscles can surely send shockwaves right through the core.

The frame of the G2PRO percussion massager is made of professional-grade nylon. It’s a lightweight yet super-strong material encasing the steel gearbox that has been meticulously heat-treated. Overall, it feels sturdy and very solid on the hands.

Pro and Cons

Should You Buy It?
